Dimethenamid
Since released carbon dioxide was not analysed total recoveries from German soil incubations decreased to 68 and 65 % AR. The amount of extractable radioactivity continuously decreased to 25.2 % AR (BBA 2.2) and 21.6 % AR (BBA 2.3) at the end of the incubation. At the same time bound residues increased to 42.3 % AR (BBA 2.2) and 43.5 % AR (BBA 2.3). The non-polar fraction of the SPE eluate mainly consisted of the active substance whereas the major metabolites were found in the polar fraction. The distribution of recovered radioactivity is summarised in Table B.8.1-6. Dimethenamid was extensively metabolised leaving ≤ 2 % AR after 119 days. The major degradation products were oxalamide metabolite M23, the sulfonic acid metabolite M27 and M31. Metabolite M27 exceeded in two soils 10 % AR reaching a maximum of 12.7 % AR in sandy loam 2.3 at day 42. Metabolite M23 reached a maximum of 10.2 % AR in sandy loam 2.3 at day 28. At the end of the study major metabolites declined to 4.5 – 7.1 % AR (M27) and 1.7 – 3.1 % AR (M23), respectively. None of the unidentified components exceeded 4 % AR.
