Description

It was found that 2,4-D was rapidly degraded in four viable soils incubated at 20°C. The principal metabolites detected were 2,4-DCP and 2,4-DCA with maximum concentrations of 9% and 14% of the applied amount, respectively. In one viable soil incubated at 10�C, 2,4-D was also rapidly degraded and 2,4-DCP and 2,4-DCA were found with maximum concentrations of 8% and 13% of the applied amount. In sterile soils incubated at 20�C the degradation of 2,4-D was significantly reduced.
